About Caitlin
My name is Caitlin, and I am a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and I am currently completing a second bachelor’s degree in Public Health, which I will finish in December 2026. I am also a former Division I cross country and track student-athlete, an experience that developed my discipline, time management, and resilience—skills I bring into every tutoring session to help students stay consistent and motivated.
I have a strong academic foundation in biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and related health sciences, and I enjoy helping students break down complex material into clear, understandable steps. In addition to my academic background, I have experience as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate ecology laboratory at the University of South Carolina, where I supported students through hands-on coursework and reinforced key concepts. I have also mentored middle school students and volunteered extensively with United Cerebral Palsy, giving me experience working with a wide range of ages and learning needs.
Students can expect a professional, supportive, and structured learning environment focused on building real understanding rather than memorization. My goal is to help each student gain confidence in their abilities, improve academic performance, and develop effective study habits they can carry forward into future courses.

My name is Caitlin, and my approach to tutoring is centered on building true understanding and confidence rather than memorization. I focus on meeting students where they are and breaking down complex topics in biology, chemistry, anatomy, and general science into clear, manageable steps. I often use real-world examples, guided questioning, and active problem-solving so students can learn how to think through questions independently instead of relying on rote memorization. I also adjust my explanations based on how each student learns best, whether they are visual, step-by-step learners, or need repeated practice to build confidence.
A typical lesson begins with identifying the student’s goals and reviewing any recent material they struggled with. From there, I walk through core concepts, model examples, and then guide the student through practice problems with increasing independence. I finish each session by reinforcing key takeaways and giving targeted practice or study strategies so they know exactly what to work on between sessions. This structure helps students build consistency and steadily improve over time.
What sets me apart is my combination of strong academic science training, experience as a university ecology lab Teaching Assistant, and my background as a former Division I student-athlete, which taught me discipline, time management, and resilience. I have worked with both college students and younger learners in one-on-one and small group settings, and I specialize in making challenging science material feel approachable. My lessons are designed for middle school through early college students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve grades, or build a stronger foundation in science for future academic goals.
