About Vanny
To my future students,
I don’t know you yet, but I think you’re wonderful and brilliant. I believe all of you have unique interests and gifts to share with the world, and I want to help you show everything you’ve got.
I wanted to become a tutor so that I can make a real difference in children's lives. I take the task of developing young people into kind, thoughtful and contributing adults very seriously. I have always been so grateful to my teachers and the educational system for making me the person that I am today. My Teaching Methods.
There is 2 assessments that I use. Those are formative assessments and Summative assessments.
Summative assessment refers to an assessment that takes place after a block of work has been completed, I will do this every week. They are best thought of as assessments of learning. This is a assessments that will have questions that would have covered for the week or the week before.
Formative are those that take place day-to-day and are used to gauge pupils’ understanding of a topic – they are assessments for learning. Formative assessment is often used in a diagnostic capacity, to help us identify whether pupils are struggling with a topic in the moment. This helps me adapt my lesson to meet the clients needs.
Deliberate practice One of the most effective ways of introducing new concepts to the student. Deliberate Practice involves breaking learning down into a series of sub skills, each of which is deliberately practiced in turn.
The 5 steps involved in deliberate practice are:
Isolate the skill
Develop the skill
Assess the skill
Final performance
Retrieval practice later
The typical length of a lessons:
Can vary to 1 hour or 30 minute lessons
My qualifications & experience as a tutor
I have achieved Science (double award, all sciences Chemistry, Biology & Physics) at a Grade 6 GCSE. Business Studies at a Grade 6. Maths, English Language & literature at a Grade 5.
Experience
I have taught multiple of my friends in my year group with the techniques above in my spare time. With my teaching they have surpassed their predicted Grades. From being predicted to a Grade 4 for Science to getting a grade 6.
