About John
I am a Biomedical Engineering student with a strong foundation in math, science, and engineering concepts, currently studying at Hofstra University while serving in the U.S. Army as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter mechanic. My academic and military background has given me extensive experience with problem-solving, critical thinking, and disciplined study habits, which I bring into every tutoring session.
I specialize in tutoring math, physics, biology, and general STEM subjects for middle school, high school, and early college students. I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than memorizing formulas or steps. By breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable ideas and connecting them to real-world applications, I help students build confidence and long-term academic skills.
I have experience mentoring students through STEM programs, Science Olympiad leadership, and one-on-one academic support. My teaching style is patient, structured, and adaptable to each student’s learning style and goals. Whether a student is struggling with fundamentals, preparing for exams, or aiming to excel, I tailor my approach to meet their needs.
My military training has reinforced the importance of organization, accountability, and effective communication, all of which play a key role in my tutoring approach. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking on challenging material.
My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students develop confidence, independence, and a strong understanding of STEM subjects that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

My lessons are structured, personalized, and focused on helping students truly understand the material. Each session begins with a quick check-in to identify problem areas, upcoming assignments, or test topics. From there, I break concepts down step by step, using clear explanations and real-world examples to make challenging material easier to grasp.
I tailor every lesson to the student’s learning style and pace. Some sessions focus on building strong fundamentals, while others emphasize exam preparation, homework support, or advanced problem-solving. I encourage students to ask questions freely and explain their thinking, which helps reinforce understanding and build confidence.
For math and science subjects, I emphasize problem-solving strategies, not memorization. Students learn how to approach unfamiliar questions, recognize patterns, and apply concepts across different problems. When helpful, I use diagrams, practice problems, and guided walkthroughs to reinforce learning.
I also help students develop effective study habits, organization skills, and test-taking strategies. My goal is to equip students with tools they can use independently, not just during our sessions.
Lessons are supportive, focused, and goal-oriented. Whether a student is struggling to keep up or aiming to excel, I work to create a calm, encouraging environment where they can grow academically and gain confidence in STEM subjects.
