About Evan
I am actually currently a lessons instructor at Guitar Center in Evansville! I just started there again after a 4 year hiatus. Previously, I was there for 3 years and taught people from ages 5-92! I left because I moved to southern Illinois to get my band project off of the ground and spent the last 4 years touring and building up my band/business “Sturg and Friends LLC”. Now I’m back and ready to share knowledge more than ever!

We will start off by identifying where the student is skill/knowledge wise and what their goals in learning the guitar are.
From there, we will either pick out songs they want to learn, hop right in and learn music theory as we learn the songs or, we will get into the basics of music theory and then hop into songs as we go. That’s mostly up to the student.
Personally, I like the first method better because it’s pretty easy to learn a couple of simple chords and strum along with one of your favorite tunes. It provides a cool sense of accomplishment early on. However, for the people who have the patience, the second method works incredibly well too!
The student will learn rhythm, notation, chords, strumming patterns, picking patterns, songs, guitar care, proper use of amps and pedals, and much much more! And the best part is, they’ll have fun doing it!
