My experiences as a professional pianist have taught me that we are all different and unique in our tastes in music, so being very flexible is vastly important especially when teaching the piano.
I do believe that for beginners and school children it’s highly valuable to learn to read music.
Music notation is a unique language, so it’s important to understand the basics of this in order to lay down the foundations of your practise.
