About Sandy
Hi, I am Sandy! I am currently an Applied Mathematics major at Brooklyn Technical High School, and I love helping students build a strong, confident foundation in math.
My academic background includes earning a perfect 800 on the SAT Math section, but my true passion is teaching others how to succeed. As the Tutoring Committee Head for Mu Alpha Theta, the Mathematics Honor Society, I have personally logged over 45 hours of peer math support. This experience has allowed me to specialize in breaking down core subjects like Algebra into simple, logical steps. Because I am a high school student myself, I understand exactly where people tend to get stuck and how to explain concepts in an encouraging, peer-to-peer way that avoids confusing academic jargon.
Beyond tutoring, I bring excellent organization and a high level of professionalism to my work. I serve as the Vice President of the Esports Club and Treasurer of the Sketching Club at Brooklyn Tech, positions that require great time management and communication. Additionally, my background includes structured workforce training through the Summer Youth Employment Program and volunteering at a local medical clinic. These experiences have taught me to be highly punctual, reliable, and deeply attentive to each student's unique learning goals. I look forward to helping you master algebra and feel completely confident for your next exam!

As an Applied Mathematics major at Brooklyn Tech and the tutoring head for Mu Alpha Theta, my name is Sandy and I offer algebra lessons for middle school and high school students who want to build a strong math foundation.
My Approach and Techniques:
I do not just focus on making students memorize formulas. I use a visual, step-by-step approach to make algebra feel less intimidating. Because I am a student myself, I know how to explain concepts like factoring, graphing, and linear equations in a way that feels like a peer helping you out, not a rigid lecture.
A Typical 60-Minute Lesson Plan:
First, we spend 10 minutes doing a review to clear up any confusion from your current school homework or recent quizzes. Next, we dedicate 25 minutes to a core concept breakdown, turning abstract algebraic rules into logical steps. We then spend 20 minutes on guided practice, tackling problems together so you can build up your confidence. Finally, we end with a 5-minute wrap-up to summarize key shortcuts and helpful tricks for your next exam.
Whether you want to catch up in class or get ahead, my lessons will make algebra simple and stress-free!

Sandy is hands down the best math tutor I have ever had. We go to Brooklyn Tech together and Sandy literally helped me survive AP Calculus. Instead of just making you memorize confusing formulas, Sandy actually breaks down the steps visually so it makes sense. Super patient, easy to talk to, and helped my grade go up a ton. Highly recommend!
