About Sophie
Having spent years in education and now as a university student, I’ve explored and refined different study techniques. I understand that what works for one person may not work for another, which is why I tailor my approach to each student’s unique needs. I love learning, but I know firsthand that studying can sometimes feel overwhelming. You don’t have to go through it alone. My goal is to support, guide, and empower you, helping you break down challenges and achieve your academic potential, one step at a time. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing students gain confidence in their own abilities and succeed in ways they may not have thought were possible. My Tutoring Approach: I tailor each class to the student’s learning style, ensuring lessons are engaging, effective, and suited to their needs. Lesson Structure: Sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on study goals and student preference. Teaching Method: I start by helping students identify clear, achievable academic goals, then work with them to create a structured action plan to reach them. I incorporate a variety of techniques - including active recall with the help of flashcards, quizzes, and interactive discussions - to make learning both efficient and enjoyable. Experience & Qualifications: Previous experience in peer mentoring GCSE science students and tutoring for the 11+ exam. Currently studying for a BSc in Natural Sciences (specialising in Cell & Molecular Biology, Human Biology & Environmental Science) Pursuing a TEFL qualification Extensive experience working and volunteering with children Who My Lessons Are For: GCSE & A-Level students in Biology, Chemistry, Geography & French. 11+ students preparing for entrance exams Parents' input is always welcome, but the focus will be on what best supports the student’s success.
