About Jeremy

Hi, I’m Jeremy, an online American Sign Language (ASL) tutor. As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and hard-of-hearing individual of 35 years plus with deep family roots in the Deaf community, I teach ASL the way it’s used in real life—clear, practical, and focused on true communication.

My lessons are structured, beginner-friendly, and personalized to your goals. We’ll build strong foundations in vocabulary, fingerspelling, grammar, facial expressions, and confidence, while also learning key parts of Deaf culture so you understand not just how to sign, but why it’s done that way.

I work with kids, teens, and adults, including complete beginners. Whether you’re learning ASL for school, work, family, or personal growth, I’ll guide you step-by-step with patient coaching and real practice every session.

What you can expect:

One-on-one online lessons (beginner to advanced)

Clear explanations and lots of guided practice

Custom lesson plans and take-home practice

A supportive, professional learning environment

If you’re ready to start signing with confidence, I’d love to help.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Yes I do sign fluently as I am a CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults) of 99% of my family.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

As in the deaf culture the historical person goes by Helen Keller as a deaf/blind advocate.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

As a CODA, I believe that all words, phrases, tradition and behaviour is all about body language and expression to each sign which is very important!
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

ASL is very important to me as it is my first language. Also, it is important to me to teach students that want to learn to understand the language and the culture.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

To learn the difference between the deaf/hearing world together can be a struggle for a CODA as we experience both worlds.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

ASL was my first language through 99% which included parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, God parents and so on. I really didn't learn ASL in school, however, I have interpreted in those events and I am grateful to have learned the language.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

As a CODA, I can give students an idea of what it is like to be in 2 different worlds in one. Also I am very passionate in teaching the language to the SuperProf students. Teaching online I feel is the best way as there are no meet up barriers throughout 50 states and throughout the world.
