About Sahar

Hi! I’m Sahar, and teaching is something I genuinely love. There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing a student go from “I can’t do this” to “Wait, I actually understand it!” I’m a credentialed teacher with a Bachelor’s degree and experience teaching and tutoring students from preschool through college-level English. I create my own lessons, worksheets, games, and activities and adjust them to the way each student learns best. I’m patient, encouraging, and I truly care about getting to know my students and helping them feel confident in what they can accomplish.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Sahar, and teaching is truly something I love. I have always had a passion for helping children learn, grow, and feel confident in themselves. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve academically, but to make learning feel fun, encouraging, and achievable.

I have a Bachelor’s degree and a California teaching credential, along with extensive experience working with students from preschool, Junior Kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college level English.

My Teaching Experience!

I have worked in a variety of educational settings, including:

• Credentialed teacher

• Second grade teacher at a private school

• Summer school teacher

• LAUSD tutor and teacher’s assistant

• Preschool teacher, managing classrooms of 16 to 30 students

• One on one tutoring all ages.

• Experience across five different schools

• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum

• Experience supporting immigrant and ESL/ELL students

• Test preparation and academic support

• Creating individualized worksheets, lesson plans, activities, and projects

I do not believe there is one teaching method that works for everyone. Every student learns differently, so I use a combination of visual, auditory, and hands on learning strategies depending on what works best for each student.

My Approach

One of my biggest goals is helping students believe in themselves.

If a student tells me, “I am not good at math,” or “I cannot do this,” I do not want them to leave the lesson feeling that way. I want them to leave thinking, “Wait, I actually understand this!”

I am patient, encouraging, and adaptable, and I take the time to figure out why a student is struggling instead of simply giving them the answer.

I have created many of my own worksheets and lesson plans and have seen wonderful progress with the students I have worked with. I am also happy to share examples of my worksheets, lesson plans, projects, art activities, and other teaching materials so families can see the type of work I create.
