About Sara
I am a Caltech Materials Science PhD candidate and a Princeton physics graduate with a strong, extensive background in math and physics. I have been a strong student all my life who took advanced classes in all areas throughout middle and high school, including math, science, English, French, US and world history, and US government and consistently did well. In college, I majored in physics and did well in math and science classes such as calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, and astronomy. I also succeeded in classes outside of my field of study such as French, healthcare policy, ethics of engineering, and cognitive neuroscience. More importantly, I have over a decade of experience tutoring peers and students in middle and high school math and science and several years of experience tutoring students in college-level math and science across all the listed areas above. I have also mentored several students on independent research projects and guided them through more open-ended explorations for deeper learning. My students enjoy and benefit greatly from my customized, fundamentals-first approach and do well on their homework assignments and exams while better understanding the material. I am professional and focused but friendly and approachable, willing to share my own struggles and how I overcame them and encouraging students.

I look over materials with which students need help beforehand and identify the appropriate topics to cover. During my sessions, I work with students to understand their unique struggle with the material. I explain the fundamental underlying concepts slowly until they understand, work through an example problem, and then give them a similar problem to check their understanding. I have no "typical lesson plan" because I customize each session according to student needs. My "fundamentals first" approach and advance preparation sets me apart as a tutor. The lessons are online and for middle school through college students. I can teach math, science, social studies (including US and world history, US government, and economics), writing, French (up to AP French), and introductory programming to middle and high school students. For college-level math, I can teach calculus, linear algebra, probability, and differential equations. For college-level physics, I can teach quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, first-year physics (both calculus and non-calculus based), and astronomy. For college-level chemistry, I can teach introductory chemistry. For college-level programming, I can teach introductory programming in Python, Java, or MATLAB. For college-level French, I can teach up to intermediate French.

Sara has a style and approach that makes learning easy. My son was five weeks from failing Chemistry, however, Sara saved the day by helping my son pass Chemistry. I would recommend Sara for anyone needing help in Chemistry and Math.
I’m recommending Sara to every student. Her way of teaching and preparing my daughter to ACT was 100% on point! My daughter after five lessons improved her score a lot! Sara gave her more confidence and knowledge. We’re very thankful!
