About Robert
I’m a graduate mathematician from Christ's College, University of Cambridge, and am currently tutoring full-time. I have a love of learning maths and sciences (which I'm sure you guessed) but also a love of teaching and seeing the fruits of showing others what joy there is to be found in something, how even if they hate it now, there will be something in it they can enjoy. I’ve seen how many people have been as they learn, by bad teachers or just boring examples, and I hope to not make the same mistakes they did. The one thing I value most for every student, is a focus on personal growth over grades; limiting oneself to “getting an A*” leads to putting memorising facts above fundamental understanding, and every student, in my opinion, is better off aiming for the best they can, rather than any specific level.

No two students are the same. Each individual has different goals, learning styles and responsibilities, and I believe lesson plans need to be informed by this. Whether you know what you want to achieve, or just want a guiding hand to push you further, I hope I can help. The best way to learn though is through doing, and being challenged, which is how most lessons will be structured. I want you to be thinking for yourself, to face hard problems now to find it easy in the future. These might be past paper questions, your own problems, or what I use to try to push you, it only depends on how you learn best. FAQs: What do you teach? - Competitions: e.g. British Physics Olympiad - Physics: GCSE/iGCSE; A-Level - Chemistry: GCSE/iGCSE - Puzzles & Problem Solving (Certified Member of Mensa) What ages of students will you take? Most of my students are aged 13-19, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re outside this range. Whether you just want or need an extra push in maths from somewhere, or you’re a bored younger student, or adult learner, I’d love to hear from you to see if I could help. What times do you teach? I’m quite flexible, and am happy to teach any time between 8am-9pm, including holidays and weekends. My most free times are weekday mornings and afternoons. How will the lesson be arranged? I use Zoom for the majority of my lessons, however I’m happy to use other services such as Discord, Skype, etc if you’re more comfortable with that. If you are hesitant to try online tutoring, I urge you to give it a go before concluding that it’s not as good as in person. There are so many advantages and conveniences to digital tutoring that are difficult to articulate, so I hope that after a trial session, you’ll agree it’s as good or better.

Robert has helped me work through difficult math concepts for over a year now and I have been able to boost my grade up significantly. He is supportive, patient, and happy to answer my questions thoroughly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone struggling with math or physics!
I find that Robert is very straight forward, effective but also very receptive to in lesson feedback. He has always helped me hone in on what the issue was, and then taught me it concisely. Having been with him for a long time now I can happily say he is the best tutor I have had.
Robert is an outstanding tutor who is excellent at imparting knowledge and patient with any difficulties or challenges in the progress of the lesson. He has helped me immeasurably and I recommend his tutoring wholeheartedly! He never makes any lesson boring - no matter how hard the maths gets!
Helped me with maths work at university and always had great analogies and examples to explain sticking points. Very patient, clearly passionate about his subject, and also really good at maintaining the right level of being professional, and being casual, in lessons. Great tutor, wish I’d worked with him earlier, would have saved a lot of trouble.
Robert is a very supportive tutor who is organised and prepared for every tutorial. He is up to date with all the requirements needed for A-level and entrance exam preparation. He is able to know when help is needed and when to let his pupil run with their ideas. I would highly recommend him.
Excellent tutor. Extremely knowledgeable and patient when going over content.
Allows each student to have tailored lessons and also fun to work with and makes maths enjoyable.Prepares well before lessons and knows the concepts in depth which helps to make sense of complex ideas and topics
