About Rowena
I graduated from Cambridge University in 2000 with a degree in Religious Studies.
I worked as a teacher and Head of Department in Religious Studies and Philosophy from 2005 until 2020. I have been tutoring in English, History, Philosophy and Religious Studies since 2013.
I have over 20 years’ experience helping students with university applications. I offer current and former students free help with UCAS applications.
I can assist with practice interviews for Oxford and Cambridge Religious Studies and Philosophy.
I am now a full-time tutor so I can provide dedicated help to a small number of students. I am happy to mark work and answer questions between lessons for no additional cost when possible.

I have worked as a teacher and tutor for over 20 years. Since 2020 I have been a full-time tutor in GCSE and A-level English, GCSE and A-level Religious Studies, GCSE History and A-level Philosophy.

Lessons are 1 hour long.
I only teach GCSE and A-level students, so lessons mostly focus on planning exam questions together, filling in gaps in knowledge beforehand where necessary. I provide resources wherever possible so students can learn/revise knowledge before the lesson, use the notes/summaries/annotations for work in the lesson, and revise it after the lesson. I can also provide model paragraphs/answers where this will be beneficial.

Rowena helped my son in GCSE English which he was significantly underperforming in. He has ADHD and autism and Rowena was incredibly patient, empathetic and supportive and his work has improved dramatically. She was an absolute gem who built my son's abilities and confidence hugely. She also made herself available to help him outside sessions, including sending feedback on the practice paper he did late in the evening before an exam.
Rowena has been helping my son with his GCSE revision. Rowena has gone above and beyond with her dedication and shows so much passion in helping Harry to achieve his grades.
