About Isabella
I have six years of tutoring experience in a range of subjects, including Latin, History, and university admissions preparation. Many of my students have attained top grades in their subject, and I have a 100% success rate for university admissions. A number of my students have enjoyed our lessons so much that they have continued on with me even after their exams.
My own educational background is in English and Linguistics. I attended a grammar school, where I achieved entirely As and A*s at GCSE and A-Level before going on to study Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at the University of Cambridge. My focus was on Old English, Old Norse, and Germanic Philology. I went on to attain an English Language MSc from the University of Edinburgh, graduating with Distinction.

I offer personalised preparation for all sections of the Eleven Plus: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. My first lesson is devoted to getting to know my student and collaborating with both student and parents on a personalised plan for Eleven Plus success. We will discuss areas of strength, weakness, what the student is learning in school, and whether they will be required to take all four sections of the Eleven Plus.
My standard session is an hour, though there is scope for both longer and shorter sessions depending on the needs of my client. Lessons will be a mixture of teaching and practical exercises, with a focus on constructive feedback. I have experience tutoring students with anxiety, dyslexia, and English as a second language, so I am able to tailor my lesson plans to fit a variety of needs and learning styles. It is my aim to build confidence in students as well as knowledge, allowing them to approach the exam calmly, critically, and confidently.
