About Juliet

I am postgraduate MPhil student, studying Human Evolutionary Studies at the University of Cambridge. Prior to starting my Masters, I worked as a tutor for students of various levels and in different subjects, and participated in several research projects related to my field of study. I graduated from a Dual bachelor's program between Sciences Po (Paris) and Columbia University (New York) where I earned a bachelor's degree in Politics and Government, and one in Evolutionary Biology of the Human Species (i.e., biological anthropology).
In my spare time I love reading, watching movies, running, swimming and scuba diving. Academically, I am most interested in subjects relating to biological anthropology and am planning to continue my studies in that field later on. Political science, language studies, english and law are also fields that I have taken classes in and enjoy.

English

Since my freshman year of high school, I have tutored fellow students and professionals in a variety of subjects. I began tutoring students in Spanish and French, and continued with this work throughout high school. I also worked twice/week in the Spanish help center at my high school, helping groups of students with their Spanish homework. In college, I worked as a tutor on the online English tutoring platform called Ringle. There, I helped students and professionals develop their English skills. Through the French association Afev, I worked as a mentor for a young boy, helping him learn how to read and write basic words in order for him to pass the required qualifications to get into "cours preparatoire" (first grade). This experience began during the Covid-19 lockdown, and allowed me to learn about how to work with young students when learning resources were limited. Finally, towards the end of college I worked as a teaching assistant for a large undergraduate class. In addition to grading and other administrative tasks, I organized and lead osteology labs and discussion sections once a week, composed of 30 students. I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience for students, and try to make lessons relevant to students so that they feel more interested. I like to go over goals at the beginning of each session to be on the same page with students, and be as productive as possible. My lessons are usually an hour long, in a variety of subjects for students from first years to undergraduates.
Throughout my experience as a student, I have been lucky to have several wonderful teachers who helped me develop my interests and motivated me to learn more. These amazing educators have shown me just how important education really is, and what a joy it can be when one really begins taking pleasure in learning. I try to make learning fun and enjoyable for my students, giving them techniques and alternative learning methods to continue to improve.
