About Erika
I'm an experienced tutor with a strong background in maths, science, and accounting. Having achieved top A-Level grades in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, I studied at Kings College, Cambridge, followed by postgraduate qualifications in accounting and finance. My tutoring experience spans secondary school to university level, including teaching at the University of Cape Town, where I supported students in audit, accounting and business analysis.
I'm a qualified Chartered Accountant with many years of corporate experience, and have worked with well-known brands like adidas, IKEA and Spotify. However, I recently decided to return to tutoring as nothing gives me as much joy as seeing my students reaching their full potential. Many of my students have struggled at school because they didn't get the attention they needed from their teachers, and in these cases I've worked with them to identify their weaknesses, rectify misunderstandings, and perfect their exam technique. Watching their confidence (and grades) improve has always made me feel incredibly proud, particularly when they've gone on to be accepted into top universities or competitive courses like medicine. I truly believe that every student deserves to get the care and attention they need to thrive, which I why I want to dedicate my time and energy to making this a reality.

I'm an experienced tutor with an exceptional academic background and professional qualifications. I hold top A-Level grades in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, and completed my undergraduate degree at Kings College, Cambridge, followed by postgraduate qualifications in accounting and finance.
I have extensive experience tutoring secondary students in Maths, Science, and History, as well lecturing in Accounting, Finance, and Business at the University of Cape Town. My teaching philosophy is to tailor lessons to each student's unique needs, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Although I can tutor a variety of subjects, I specialise in the following:
- GCSE/A-Level: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, History, and Accounting (UK exam boards & Cambridge CIE)
- University Level: History, Accounting, Finance, and professional exam guidance (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA)
- Career/University Applications: Personal statements, graduate roles, and interview preparation
Regardless of the topic I'm tutoring, I encourage students to truly understand and engage with the content they're learning, rather than to simply memorise and regurgitate information. Nonetheless, one of my greatest teaching skills is to help students to understand exam rubrics and marking grids, to ensure that their knowledge and skills are rewarded in exams.
As well as teaching content and exam technique, I focus on building students' confidence and reducing their anxiety. I create an open environment where they can ask questions without fear of judgment and try to make the lessons as fun as possible.
I'm just as comfortable supporting students struggling in their subjects as I am with helping high-performers achieve top grades. As part of my personalised approach to tutoring, I'll always adapt my teaching methods to support students with additional challenges, like ADHD, autism or dyslexia.
Although my lessons are usually an hour long , I can accommodate longer lessons.
