About Teresa
Hello! I am a First-Class Biomedical Science graduate (IBMS & RSB accredited) and a current PGCE Biology student and trainee science teacher at the prestigious University of Cambridge, having also received offers from Oxford and UCL. I have a genuine passion for both learning and teaching, with over five years of tutoring experience.
Alongside private tutoring, I am the proud owner of my own tutoring company, where we deliver interactive, evidence-based lessons grounded in the latest pedagogical research. I believe that a child’s success begins with their confidence and mindset. I place a strong focus on building self-belief through well-being and mindfulness practices, integrating these into each personalised learning plan from the very first session.
I am also passionate about gamifying learning to boost engagement and achievement. My First-Class dissertation – “Developing Empathy through Game-Based Learning to Support the SDG Goals in the Biosciences Curriculum” – showcases my dedication to designing innovative, research-driven lessons that inspire curiosity and make learning truly impactful.

I am currently training as a science teacher in secondary schools across East Anglia, gaining first-hand insight into pupils’ needs, challenges, and learning behaviours.
My pedagogical studies at the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Education, ensure my teaching remains rooted in current research and best practice.
Over the past five years, I have tutored more than 200 students both online and in-person, specialising in Science and English. My lessons focus on transferable study techniques and building academic confidence, which have helped students not only excel in the subjects I teach, but also improve their overall performance across the curriculum.
As the director of my tutoring company, I understand what makes an exceptional tutor. I have overseen curriculum design, tutor training, and mentoring, and I have extensive experience supporting students with university applications (including Oxbridge), confidence-building, and well-being strategies — guidance which has often proven transformational for my learners.
My Teaching Approach:
My initial session is dedicated to understanding the student’s needs: their current progress, preferred learning style, and academic goals.
Together, we create a clear, personalised action plan to guide progress.
From this, I develop a bespoke learning plan and curriculum, giving parents full visibility of their child’s strengths and development areas.
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
• A starter activity to engage prior knowledge
• An interactive teaching block tailored to the topic
• A collaborative activity to deepen understanding
• An independent task to reinforce skills
• A plenary/reflection to consolidate learning
Where appropriate, I incorporate gamified tasks, debates, research projects, or discussions to keep lessons dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and memorable.
After every session, parents receive a comprehensive lesson report detailing lesson content, student progress and effort, behaviour, and any homework or extension tasks.
For older students, I also identify subject-specific competitions at KS4/5 and guide them through applications — a powerful advantage for those aiming for top UK universities.
