About Ana Nicolle
I grew up and lived in Mexico until I was 5 years old so that I could go to school in the United States. I entered Kindergarten not knowing any English and having to learn via cannonball into the pool of America. Specifically in Tucson, Arizona where the border to Mexico is approximately an hour away. I spent most summer breaks with my grandmother in Hermosillo, Sonora helping her run her popsicle business. Ive always been proud of being Mexican and loved learning more and more about the country's rich culture and history. I remember teaching my little cousins English too so they could be ready to be my neighbors one day in the US. Fast forwarding to my 5 years going to college in New York where suddenly I was engulfed in very different reaches of the Spanish language with dominant Puerto Rican and Dominican communities. I quickly became home and culture sick after my first year there, but I found myself exploring and living in the Bronx so I could get my fill of something like home. I was consequently, as I like to say "adopted" by the Puerto Ricans and Dominicans who shared with me new levels of Spanish in every way.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and hold a score of 5 on the AP Spanish Exam. I love this language and all the cultures it reaches, so it is so easy to want to share it.

The bones of my lessons stay true to some technical Spanish books, most often the AP Spanish Book from the Princeton Review Edition. Or the "Bienvendios Workbook" for my beginner students. Vocabulary and grammar is foundational and is always dressed at the beginning of my sessions. To then put into speaking and writing practice. Then integrating all new knowledge with being a viewer of Spanish media, most often Film and Tv. Using Spanish art allows the student to maintain curiosity from a universal stand point. Most of the time any homework I assign would just be watching Spanish Tv or Movies to keep that conversational practice alive more consistently.
I am a Native Spanish speaker from Mexico with life long and natural knowledge of the the language. I took the AP Spanish test in high school and got a 5, testing me out of having to take any language courses. What is most important to me when it comes to learning and honoring the Spanish language is curiosity; for the cultures it reaches and the people it connects.
