About QC
I have played the piano for 23 years, and also play guitar and sing on the side. I completed RCM level 8 for piano when I was 13 years old and have since been mostly self-taught. I've had several years of experience as a volunteer instructor with a nonprofit in New York City called Musical Mentors Collaborative. You can read more about the organization at this url: musical-mentors[dot]org/our-story. (Replace [dot] with ".")

Hi! I'm Quincy, and I'm offering piano lessons or supplemental tutoring for beginner and intermediate students. I'm not a professional instructor, but I love music and enjoy teaching and sharing it with others. Therefore, I offer piano lessons on a "pay what you wish" basis. My listed rate is $50/hour (market rate according to Superprof), but you can decide how much to pay after each lesson. Even zero is okay!
Our lessons will focus on fostering creativity and musicality. I believe music is play, and should first and foremost be fun. Technique and theory are also important, but should be developed in service to musical expression. Therefore, I like to focus on improvisation and composition. We can write a piece or a song together in our first lessons, even if you have never played the piano before. I do not teach the RCM curriculum, but I can tutor you on your curriculum pieces in this framework as a supplement to other lessons.

I offer lessons on a "pay what you wish" basis. You can pay as much as you feel comfortable, and it may be helpful to discuss our expectations for continuing sessions. For reference, the market rate (according to Superprof) is about $50/hour. But I'm happy to provide lessons for free based on need. I prefer in-home lessons where I come to you, but lessons in my home are also possible. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian for all lessons. Adult students are of course welcome!
