About Jodi
I’ve been a teacher since 2006, and have worked with students in grades pre-K-5. In that time, I’ve learned the importance of creating and executing lesson plans that inspire and reach each student based on their instructional level and social/emotional needs.
I have a Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts, so while teaching is my passion, all things Literacy are very special to me. To imbue a child with an appreciation of and confidence in Reading and writing gives them keys to their future as it unlocks the ability to interpret information in other subject areas.
I believe the learning process is efficient when students are challenged and inspired.

I believe every child has the right to an accessible and motivating education to reach his or her potential. Students should be afforded the chance to master a given objective through instruction using the whole-child approach, which recognizes the “Multiple Intelligences” through which information is absorbed. That said, fun and exploration should not be absent from education. A positive student-teacher relationship is pertinent for learning to ensue, and is something I’ve maintained throughout my teaching career because I am passionate about my students’ success and confidence!

Details
To ensure consistency in your child’s educational growth and success I ask that after the first session, payment for the following five be made in advance. I will spend a significant amount of time planning lessons as well and so for these reasons your payment is non-refundable.
In addition, while I am willing to come to you or meeting at the Newington Public Library, I recommend sessions take place at my home where I have an office with two desks, and hundreds of teaching resources at my disposal when needed. I also have a printer which is invaluable for students and parents in providing additional worksheets or skill guides. Should you choose to come to my home, I will offer a $5.00/hr discount for the first three sessions.
