About Daisey
Hi, I'm Daisey, a passionate middle school English teacher who recently moved to Utah! With over two years of classroom experience, I’ve had the privilege of helping students discover the joy of reading, writing, and spelling. I believe that learning should be engaging and fun, and I strive to create a positive environment where every student feels supported and confident in their abilities.
Beyond teaching, I love to travel and explore new cultures, which brings fresh inspiration into my teaching. I'm also a big reader, always on the lookout for a good book to recommend! My Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a tutor, I believe in a student-centered approach that encourages active participation and critical thinking. I tailor each lesson to fit the individual needs of my students, whether they are struggling with the basics or looking to advance their skills. I use a combination of interactive activities, visual aids, and real-world examples to make reading, writing, and spelling relatable and engaging.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session begins with a review of previous lessons to ensure retention and understanding. I then introduce new material, breaking it down into manageable sections. For example, a reading lesson might include vocabulary review, reading comprehension exercises, and a discussion about themes or characters. Writing lessons are often structured around creative prompts or essay writing, with a focus on improving grammar, structure, and style. We end with a recap and a set of personalized practice tasks to reinforce the day’s learning.
