About Andy
My goal is simple, to do everything I can to help my students succeed. My tutoring sessions are intended to supplement the work my students are doing in school, meaning I can aid in any subject area in which they have struggled in the past or keep them on top of what they are currently working on. I don't believe in stressing my students out with overwhelming amounts of extra work, and I aim to make my sessions as enjoyable as possible. I realize that every student has different needs, and I will tailor my sessions to each individual student's learning style.
FUN FACT: I recently competed on (and won!) an episode of ABC's "The Chase." I've also appeared on "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!"

I am a high school math teacher in the New York Metropolitan area. I have over a decade of experience in educational settings working with kids of all ages. In addition to teaching high school, I've worked as a teaching assistant, lead teacher, and a one-on-one tutor in pre-school, elementary, and middle school environments. I have also taught individual and small-group classes focused on preparing students for SAT and ACT examinations.
I am a confident and competent tutor in most academic subjects, but my specialty is math. I currently teach Regents-level Common Core Geometry and AP Calculus, and have previously taught Algebra I and Algebra II, as well as a remedial course with a focus on algebra, proportional reasoning, and statistics.
I also am the co-founder and CEO of A&J Education, an independent educational consulting firm focused on guiding students through the competitive (and often stressful) college application process. I specialize in reviewing student transcripts and resumes to enhance their college profiles and proofreading and revising personal statements and supplemental essays.
