About Sidney
Hi, there! My name is Sidney and I am so excited to get to know you and your child. I am currently a first-grade teacher in Alabama. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Even on my most stressful days, my career has never felt like "work". I love what I do! I hold a bachelor's degree in childhood education which certifies me to work with birth through 6th grade. I have a master's degree in K-6 Elementary Education. I pride myself on being a lifelong learner and I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge. I love learning and cannot wait to see how much we learn and grow together!

During my lessons, your learner will work with multisensory instruction on phonemic awareness - being aware of sounds in a word. We will practice rhyming, manipulating different sounds to form new words, and other skills. After a phonemic awareness warmup, we will work with phonics rules to help with spelling, practice dictation, and transfer our skills to reading applications.
Some of the methods I use are meant to target dyslexic learners.
Most importantly, I want to meet your learners where they are and help them grow. I always tell my students, that practice makes PROGRESS. I am confident that you will see progression in your child's learning after our sessions.
