About Avoy
I’m Binoy Krishna Saha (Avoy), a literature researcher and teacher from Kolkata with a Master’s in Comparative Literature and Qualified UGC NET in English in December 2024. My academic journey has been deeply rooted in exploring Indian and English literary traditions, and I’ve presented research papers at several national conferences across India. I have a special interest in UGC NET preparation, focusing on how history, culture, and thought shape literary expression—from the Age of Chaucer to modern postcolonial narratives. My teaching approach blends clarity with curiosity: I believe every text has a pulse, and the goal of studying literature is to feel that rhythm. Over the years, I’ve also worked on translations, field research, and literary analysis, which helps me make classes engaging, comparative, and exam-oriented at the same time. If you’re preparing for UGC NET or want to strengthen your understanding of English literature, I’ll help you approach it not just as a syllabus but as a story of ideas, voices, and change.

About the Class
Step into the fascinating world of the Age of Chaucer (1300–1400 AD) — a period that shaped the very foundation of English literature. This class is designed for UGC NET aspirants and advanced literature students who wish to understand not only what Chaucer wrote, but why his age transformed English thought, language, and imagination.
We will explore:
1. The historical and cultural background of 14th-century England.
2. The major writers: Geoffrey Chaucer, John Gower, William Langland, and others.
3. Literary forms: The Canterbury Tales, Piers Plowman, and courtly poetry.
4. Themes of religion, morality, humour, and realism.
5. Chaucer’s contribution to English language and narrative art.
Each session will combine conceptual clarity, detailed textual discussion, and previous-year UGC NET questions to help you build both understanding and exam confidence.
This class is perfect for learners who believe that preparation should not be rote — but rooted in historical insight, literary connection, and intellectual curiosity.
