About Alexa Annika
Hello my name is Alexa Calderon. My focus has always been about critical thinking within the STEM field and assisting others to do the same. I am in the Honors College at Michigan State University studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the pre-med track. I work at MSU's Facility of Rare Isotope Beams with internationally recognized professors in mathematics and chemistry. I am an International Baccalaureate graduate at Michigan's top IB school and #12 in the nation. I have been a Science Olympiad coach for six years and brought teams to nationals. I will be a tutor that will conform to your needs and present multiple ways at approaching problems to become a critical thinker.

Once we go over the study materials and theorems, I practice see one, do one, teach one. Students see me do a practice problem, then they do a practice problem with minimal assistance, and then they try to teach me as if I do not know this topic. I also adapt to incorporate multiple senses at a time. Whether a student would like a mixture of auditory, visual, or tactile instruction, I will teach in a way that encourages critical and independent thinking.
