About Alyssa
My interest in chemistry emerged from curiosity about how materials behave and transform under different conditions. This led me to complete a B.Sc in Materials Chemistry, where I studied both theoretical principles and applied chemical analysis. Over 12 years of teaching, I have supported students in developing clarity and confidence through patient explanation and structured guidance. I believe chemistry education should feel approachable rather than intimidating. I focus on breaking complex reactions and calculations into logical steps, using diagrams, analogies, and real-world examples to support understanding. I aim to create a learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and explore ideas deeply. Outside teaching, I stay engaged with chemistry through scientific reading, material studies, and continuous learning. These experiences enrich my lessons and allow me to bring meaningful context into the classroom. Teaching chemistry is fulfilling because I see students gain confidence and realize they can understand and apply scientific reasoning effectively.

Chemistry becomes engaging when students understand how microscopic interactions explain the physical world around them. My lessons focus on helping learners build strong conceptual understanding of atomic structure, bonding, reaction behavior, stoichiometry, and energy changes. I emphasize visualization and logical reasoning so students can connect equations to real chemical processes. Lessons are structured to feel clear, supportive, and intellectually stimulating rather than overwhelming.
Lesson design is adapted carefully to each learner’s level. Beginners focus on terminology, periodic trends, simple reactions, and foundational calculations. Intermediate students strengthen quantitative problem solving, equilibrium concepts, thermochemistry, and laboratory interpretation. Advanced learners refine reaction mechanisms, kinetics, electrochemistry, and exam-focused analytical writing. Practice questions and guided correction are integrated into every lesson to reinforce understanding and accuracy.
Learning chemistry also strengthens scientific thinking skills. Students develop analytical reasoning, attention to detail, and confidence in applying theory to practical situations. As understanding deepens, many learners shift from memorization to genuine comprehension. My goal is to help students feel capable of reasoning through chemistry independently while developing curiosity about how chemical principles influence materials, technology, and everyday life.
