About Rory
My interest in Chemistry developed from curiosity about how chemical processes affect the environment and everyday life. This led me to pursue an M.Sc in Environmental Chemistry, where I gained strong analytical and scientific reasoning skills. Over 11 years of teaching, I have helped students develop clarity and confidence through structured, supportive instruction. I focus on creating a calm and encouraging learning environment. I use diagrams, analogies, and step-by-step explanations to simplify complex ideas. I encourage questions and treat mistakes as valuable learning experiences. Outside teaching, I stay engaged with Chemistry through continued study and exploration of environmental applications. Teaching Chemistry is deeply rewarding because I witness students grow in confidence and understanding. Supporting learners as they develop scientific clarity and self-belief is the most fulfilling part of my work.

Chemistry becomes more approachable when learners understand how concepts connect rather than viewing them as isolated facts. My lessons focus on helping students understand atomic structure, chemical bonding, reactions, and energy changes through clear explanations and logical sequencing. I emphasize conceptual understanding so students can confidently explain why reactions occur and how chemical principles apply in real-world contexts.
Lessons are adapted to the learner’s level. Beginners focus on symbols, equations, and basic reactions using visual aids and guided exercises. Intermediate learners explore stoichiometry, periodic trends, acids and bases, and reaction classification with increasing independence. Advanced learners study equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics, and applied environmental chemistry concepts, emphasizing accuracy and reasoning. Practice and feedback are built into each lesson.
Chemistry lessons also foster patience, analytical thinking, and confidence. As students gain clarity, they approach scientific challenges calmly and methodically. My goal is to help learners view Chemistry as an organized, logical subject they can master with understanding and practice.
