About Tatum

My passion for chemistry began with curiosity about the behavior and interactions of molecules in the world around us. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Chemical Sciences, where I gained both theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience. Over 10 years of teaching, I have guided students to build structured understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence in applying chemical concepts effectively. I emphasize clarity, patience, and interactive learning. Many learners struggle when chemistry is presented abstractly. I use visual aids, practical demonstrations, real-life examples, and stepwise explanations to make lessons engaging and understandable. Encouraging curiosity, inquiry, and critical thinking is central to my approach. Outside teaching, I remain active in chemistry through research reading, laboratory projects, and observing industrial applications. These experiences enrich lessons and provide contemporary relevance. Teaching chemistry is highly fulfilling because I witness students gain analytical skill, confidence, and a genuine appreciation for the chemical sciences, preparing them for academic and professional success.

Chemistry becomes engaging when learners connect abstract theories to observable phenomena and practical applications. My lessons cover atomic structure, chemical bonding, reaction mechanisms, thermodynamics, kinetics, and laboratory techniques. I emphasize understanding, analytical reasoning, and hands-on learning to ensure students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.

Lesson plans are adapted to proficiency levels. Beginners focus on basic atomic and molecular structures, simple reactions, and calculations. Intermediate learners study chemical equilibria, kinetics, thermodynamics, and laboratory applications. Advanced learners engage in spectroscopy, electrochemistry, reaction mechanisms, and experimental design. Stepwise guidance, exercises, and practical examples reinforce comprehension and skill mastery.

Chemistry lessons also enhance critical thinking, precision, and problem-solving abilities. Students learn to approach problems methodically, interpret results accurately, and apply knowledge independently. As learners progress, they develop confidence and curiosity about chemical processes in daily life. My goal is to equip students with both conceptual understanding and analytical skills applicable in academic and real-world contexts.
