About Sam
I hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry and currently work as an aerosol scientist while beginning a PhD. Alongside my research career, I have experience tutoring GCSE Chemistry and enjoy helping students build confidence and achieve strong results. I know that chemistry can feel overwhelming at times, so I focus on making difficult concepts clear and approachable. My lessons are supportive, patient, and tailored to each student’s needs, with a strong emphasis on exam technique and understanding the “why” behind the science. Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking and sport, which keep me creative and energetic — qualities I bring into my tutoring.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether that’s building confidence with the basics, mastering tricky exam questions, or exploring advanced topics. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style — using clear explanations, worked examples, and step-by-step guidance. A typical session might include: • Reviewing key concepts in chemistry with simple, memorable explanations • Breaking down past paper questions to understand what examiners are really looking for • Developing problem-solving strategies for calculations and practical skills • Creating personalised study notes and revision techniques to make learning more effective I aim to make lessons interactive and supportive, encouraging questions and discussion. For online teaching, I use a virtual whiteboard and share resources so students always have clear notes to refer back to. Most importantly, my goal is to help students feel more confident and motivated — not just to pass exams, but to actually understand chemistry.
