About Chris
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer with a BSc in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering. I currently work as a Civil Engineer on large infrastructure projects. This requires not only the ability to apply mathematics to solve problems but also to explain my work to others. I regularly provide training to individuals and groups at work. I also provided group maths tutoring for students in earlier years whilst studying for my undergraduate degree.

I am not a natural mathematician. In fact, I have struggled to overcome the drawbacks of dyslexia during my academic studies and work life in general. This gives me a unique ability to communicate mathematical concepts as these did not come easily to me.
I explain concepts with pad and pencil in hand. As a dyslexic this is how I think and communicate. My experience of training engineering graduates means that I teach tools to bring to bear on problems, not answers to specific questions. Having these skills is not only effective in academic study but essential for success across a range of careers.
