About Cecilia
I am a professional stage director. I run Scena Mundi Theatre, a London-based company specialising in the modern staging of classical plays. Check us up at (concealed information)
I love story-telling, literature, and the incredible power of the theatre.
I am Anglo-French and trained in English literature and classical acting, specialising in the medieval and Elizabethan periods. I have staged plays by Shakespeare, Marlowe, TS Eliot etc...
I have worked as an academic and an actress, but stage directing is my real passion - and the job I do best!
I love and admire actors and drama students. Throughout my career, I have consistently endeavoured to bring out the best of their talent to their work.

If an actor does not understand perfectly the lines s/he is performing, neither will the audience.
In order to stand out as an actor of period repertoire, you need to understand fully the meaning of your lines, of course, but also to be aware of the historical context, the subtleties of the language, the technique of verse and prose speaking. If you are well trained, you will understand the pleasure of tackling beautiful texts, and the joy of sharing them.
As a specialist of period drama, with a dual experience of professional directing and of academic tutoring in literature, I will equip you with that much needed knowledge, helping you become a skilled and intelligent classical actor able to thrive in playing the classics, from Shakespeare to Harold Pinter.
Under my direction, in one or one-and-a-half hour lessons, you will acquire the tools you need not just to perform one piece, but to tackle any classical piece you may come across in your career. Whether you need to nail that one "speech" for a particular audition, or to study a full part, I guarantee that you will learn techniques to master lines which may feel daunting at first sight. I will help boost your confidence with scripts that actors find challenging.
My productions with Scena Mundi Theatre have been praised for the exceptional clarity of their textual work and the excellence of the actors' performances. I will share my knowledge with you.
I teach individual sessions but will also consider pair/group coaching.
