About May
I am a composer/ arranger/ pianist. I have been teaching piano students with different piano backgrounds for years (students range between 5-70 years old). My teaching goal for them is to not only have the ability to read and play music but also to be able to improvise and ENJOY music.
I was both classically and commercially trained for 15 years. I accomplished ABRSM level 8 and was the pianist for my university jazz ensemble and keyboardist for our chapel band.

From my previous experiences, I always tailor-made my teachings to better suit my student’s passion and their music ability. For beginners (whether classical, pop, or jazz), I always start with the basics techniques, which includes hand position, note name, note value, etc. Once my students have a basic understanding of the piano, we will start learning different songs and scales according to their levels (there are some great adult piano book series we could use). Also, I always create attainable goals with my student together and give them weekly assignment so they can stay on track with a practice schedule.
