About Joseph
Joseph Dougherty is an esteemed classical guitarist and teacher having performed across the country. A native of the east end of Long Island, New York. Joseph has a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance at California State University Northridge, under the direction of Bryan Fasola and John Dearman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. During his time in Los Angeles, he regularly performed with his duo paying special focus to Brazilian and Argentinian music. he currently performs regularly as a soloist on the east end of Long Island.
In addition to his performing career, Joseph is also an avid builder of guitars. In 2017, he received his associate’s degree in stringed instrument construction from Timeless Instruments School of Lutherie in Saskatchewan, Canada.

I tailor each lesson plan to the student's individual skill level as well as their interest. I strive to make each student's lesson apply to music that they are interested in and then apply fundamentals and technique from there. I have backgrounds in classical, jazz, rock, and bluegrass.
