About Amanda

I’m a university student currently studying Latin as part of my degree, and I’ve developed a real passion for the language. I know firsthand how challenging declensions, conjugations, and translations can feel at first — but I also know how rewarding it is when everything starts to click. My background in science and the humanities has trained me to think logically and explain concepts clearly, and I bring that same clarity to my teaching. I enjoy helping others overcome the hurdles of Latin and discover the beauty of the language, whether it’s for school exams, university coursework, or personal interest. I’m patient, approachable, and committed to tailoring lessons to each student’s pace and goals. My aim is to make Latin less intimidating and more engaging, while building confidence step by step.

About the lesson

Learning Latin can feel intimidating at first, but I break it down into clear, manageable steps. My lessons are tailored to your goals — whether you’re a high school student preparing for exams, a university student working through Wheelock or an adult learner wanting to explore classical texts.

I focus on building a strong foundation in vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure, while always connecting it back to real Latin passages. We’ll use exercises, translation practice, and simple memory tricks to make declensions and conjugations stick.

Each lesson includes:
• Grammar explained simply — no jargon, just step-by-step clarity.
• Practical translation practice — from textbook examples to short extracts from authors like Seneca or Cicero.
• Interactive learning — I encourage students to create their own Latin sentences, so the rules really “click.”
• Flexible support — I can adapt lessons for assignments, revision, or just pure interest in the language.

Most importantly, I create a supportive, encouraging environment. Latin is challenging, but with the right approach it becomes fun and deeply rewarding.
