About Adrian
Hey! I’m Adrian, a classical saxophonist and music educator currently pursuing my Bachelor of Music in Classical Saxophone Performance at the University of Toronto. My pedagogical approach combines university classical music training with international masterclass experience and a strong background in youth mentoring.
Musical Background: Student of a disciple of world-renowned saxophonist Arno Bornkamp. Completed international summer studies at the 37th Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France. Participated in private lessons and masterclasses with internationally acclaimed saxophonists Kenneth Tse and Makoto Hondo.
Credentials: ABRSM Grade 8 Saxophone with Distinction, ABRSM Music Theory Certification, and Canadian Red Cross First Aid/CPR certified.
Honors & Awards: Recipient of the Rico by D'Addario Golden Reed Award & Scholarship, the Plotenyi Bekassy-Tassonyi Award, and 1st place awards at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and Vancouver Kiwanis Music Competition.
Youth & Mentorship Experience: Former Teacher's Assistant at the VSO School of Music and children's day camp program leader, comfortable working with children and teens.
Multilingual Fluency: I offer lessons in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and conversational Japanese, providing clear, warm communication for diverse families.

Growing up, I experienced firsthand how rigid exam prep and unrealistic expectations from parents can sometimes diminish the joy of playing music. Everything changed when I found a mentor who introduced repertoire I loved alongside strong classical fundamentals. That spark ignited my career, and it is the exact feeling I wish to provide to my students. My lessons are tailored to each student's age, personality, and musical goals.
Young Beginners (Ages 4+): We build fundamental woodwind techniques, proper embouchure setup, breathing practices, and rhythm through fun, supportive, and engaging exercises.
Intermediate & RCM/ABRSM Exam Prep: Structured guidance through exam technique (scales), technical/lyrical studies, sight-reading, and aural training, encouraging students to build confidence and achieve high marks (Distinction/Honors).
Hobbyists & Adults: A relaxed, supportive pace focused on playing your favorite music while developing clear tone, fluid technique, and personal artistic expression.
Lessons can be conducted in-person (at my studio or traveling to your home across the GTA) or online with professional webcam and audio setups.
