About Chyh Leng
Hello, I am Low Chyh Leng. I have obtained a Masters degree in Piano Performance at Miami University, OH, and a Bachelor of degree in Classical music, majoring in Classical piano at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am currently a Doctorate candidate at James Madison University, VA, concentrating in Performance, Literature and Pedagogy.
I had over 10 years of music teaching experience, from young children to adults in various levels. As a graduate assistant at schools, I teach undergraduate level class piano to non-piano major students.
I have taken some pedagogical courses such as the Piano Pedagogy Conference held by the Institute of Music, UCSI University in 2017 and 2019. Furthermore, I was selected to take a winter course under Overseas Masters Winter Piano Academy (OMWPA) at the Yehudi Menuhin School, United Kingdom in 2018.
I also had won various piano competition awards such as Southeast Asia Piano Competition, Malaysia, China and Korea Piano Competition, Malaysian Piano Competitions and more.
As an active performer based in Kuala Lumpur, I played for Kuala Lumpur City Opera's in-house recitals and also played for Kawai Malaysia as a guest pianist. Other than that, I enjoy playing with people as a collaborative pianist, from a duet to hundreds of people choral and philharmonic orchestra.

I enjoy very much the process of helping people of any age discover their talents. It is never too late to learn something new! I make sure to tailor my lessons to my student's needs and wishes and help them improve their technique and musicality. Being an active performer myself, I am able to share my personal performing experience with my students on performance skills.
I teach students based on (mostly) ABRSM or Trinity syllabus.
For beginner students: 30 mins/lesson
Grade 1-2 students: 45 mins/lesson
Grade 3-4 students: 60 mins/lesson
Grade 5-8 students: 90 mins/lesson
all levels lesson durations above including practical and music theory.
Diploma students: 60 mins/lesson (only practical)
Lessons are possible in different languages, such as English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
The location of the lessons could be either online or physically in KL or Selangor area.
