About Jackson
I am a senior English Major and Classical Languages Minor at Macalester College in Saint Paul MN. I've studied Latin for the last eight years and have tutored peers throughout my learning. This last semester I taught a one-hour per week language lab for students studying their second semester of Latin, a class that was taught both in person and over zoom as the global health crisis caused my institution to cease in-person operations.

I start from textbooks (Oxford Latin Course, Shelmerdine's Introduction to Latin, Wheelock's Latin), and create custom worksheets that review the main topics and details of one or more chapters. Following these texts allows for students to tackle reasonable topics and vocabulary loads. My note worksheets will include practice with the grammatical concepts, both isolated and in sentences to translate. I will often try to prepare practice quizzes that model the format of their instructor to help students prepare for their assessments. Meeting times will consist of both lecture on the current topics and time spent practicing exercises or reviewing homework that was assigned.

Details
The listed rate is for introductory Latin lessons. For high school level instruction, this would be equivalent to the first three years of classes. For college level instruction, this would be equivalent to the first year of classes. Study of Latin prose or poetry will require additional coordination and preparation, but we can arrange for lessons to support that level of study.
