About Seb

I am a second year Classics student at Durham University, studying for a Bachelors degree in Classics. I have studied Latin for over 9 years now, teaching students of multiple ages whilst in school. Having studied essay subjects at a high level for over three years, I also offer advice on essay writing. Additionally, I offer experienced advice on the university admissions process, with this revolving mostly around personal statements, and the interview process for certain Universities.

About the lesson

My teaching method is tailored entirely to the student and what they aim to achieve, but I always intend to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere in my sessions, in which my student is comfortable, and therefore ready to learn!

The structure of my lessons is tailored to the needs of the student, and will be prepared in detail before the session; for regular students, the lesson will begin with a small feedback session on work from last lesson, and any work I have set them to do (this work will very rarely take more than 10 minutes, don't worry! It is a way for me to ensure that the information from the lesson has been consolidated by the student). I encourage my students to take an active role in my sessions, allowing them to vocalise what they're learning, and feel comfortable voicing their own thoughts. In Latin lessons, I always intend to bring the language to life through plays, court trials, silly poems and many other techniques, allowing the student to learn effectively, whilst also having fun.
