About Tabby
Hi! I'm Tabby, and I studied Classics at the University of Oxford. I graduated this summer with a first-class degree. Classics includes reading Latin and Ancient Greek with fluency, as well as writing essays on the history, literature, and philosophy of Ancient Rome and Greece. My specialties were languages and history.
I am well equipped to teach Latin, History, English (literature and language) and Spanish to GCSE and A-level standard, and also to coach Oxbridge admissions for most humanities subjects. I'm only 22 years old, so I completed my GCSEs and A-levels not too long ago, and I know the importance of understanding and using the mark scheme and exam board to your benefit whilst still engaging with the subject and making the knowledge useful. I'd love to help those who are struggling to bridge the gap between, for example, the simple sentences and vocabulary of Cambridge Latin Course versus the trickier and more complex grammar and structures of GCSE or A-level texts and literature. Languages: I fully believe that, although Latin and Greek are ancient languages, they can be made engaging and straightforward by the right teacher; instead of just telling a student that 'that's how it is', I explain the reasoning and patterns behind the grammar and wording of Classical texts, because there is almost always a reason. I promise that Latin actually does make sense when you know what to look for!
Essay writing: My degree has also given me great experience in analysis of history, literature and essay writing, and as an A* English Literature A-level student, I could confidently teach the ins and outs of what examiners are looking for with your particular exam board or paper, and how to make an essay question work for you, with the knowledge you have. Please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Perfect! Tabby is a wonderful tutor, and I highly recommend her because of her empathy, integrity, and patience.
