About J
School is not usually set up for neurodivergent students, so it can be a challenge to get your needs met. I specialize in coaching students who deal with ADHD, autism (ASD), and AuDHD. I have worked with students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and a range of other obstacles. I know how neurodivergence can impact understanding and performance in math, reading, writing, and a range of subjects. I also understand that school is not entirely separate from the rest of a student's life, so I focus on helping my students not only with their approach to academic subject matter, but also with frustration and emotional challenges that arise in and out of school, and with developing self-advocacy skills and self-reflection.
I also work with neurotypical students who need support in working through the school system.
I have a lot of experience helping students overcome their difficulties with school and in life. You have the ability. I’m here to help you find it and develop it as much as you need to meet your goals.

Every learner has their particular challenges to overcome. We’ll start with a brief interview with the student and , if applicable, the parents. Then we’ll move to a short series of diagnostic tests to help identify the kinds of differences the students is struggling through. Over time, I’ll work with the student to illuminate specific points of confusion and to create individualized strategies to approach the kinds of critical thinking that academic classes are intended to develop and support. With neurodivergent students in particular, confusion about many subjects can be rooted in misconceptions that are surprisingly far from the visible surface struggles. The same is true for life outside of school. Teasing out these complex interactions and devising repairs is what I do.
