About Stephanie
As a professional artist and educator (tenured art Professor) for over 25 years, I deeply understand the challenges that art students and artists confront at every stage of their careers. Not only have I helped students and artist colleagues, I’ve been through it myself! I received my BFA from RISD, my MFA from Yale, and I have been a recipient of multiple grants and residencies. I have taught drawing, painting, sculpture, professional practice and contemporary art seminars at art schools such as RISD and MICA, as well as at universities. I have broad knowledge of available grants and residencies (and the requirements for those applications). Additionally, I have served as juror for Scholastic Art awards and BFA and MFA admissions at both art schools and university programs as well as juror for residency programs. “I've been working with Stephanie for nearly six months and cannot say enough about how transformational her input has been. Her expertise, precision and clarity--not to mention her wealth of kindness -- have allowed me to receive coaching and constructive feedback that make me want to get right back to my studio to implement her suggestions. I feel differently about my own work now in the most positive way since our sessions began.” Jane P., textile-based artist “Each time I meet with Stephanie, my artistic soul feels enlivened and witnessed. She provides new ways of looking at my work and at my role in creating it. Stephanie is generous, visionary, and inquisitive. She fluently and expertly speaks the language of visual art... helping me transform my ideas into the kind of visual art I’ve always wanted to make.” Ness K., interdisciplinary artist Please feel free to get in touch, ask any questions, and schedule an introductory session to talk about your goals!

• Would you benefit from expert feedback on your work?
• Are you applying for grants and/or residencies, art school, or an MFA?
• Don’t know where to start?
• Stuck on your artist’s statement?
• Need help drafting your proposal?
• Would you benefit from setting studio goals and carving out time in your studio?
I can help you with all of the above — everything from determining which residency is best for you to editing your artist’s statement and proposals, applications to MFA programs, plus helping with all the intangible aspects of your studio practice— mindset, vision, and the development of your work, including individual critiques.
I love helping people reach their goals and helping them to tackle all the things an artist must juggle both in and out of the studio.

I've been taking drawing lessons from Stephanie for the past few months. She is a wonderful teacher who truly meets you where you are in your artistic practice. She's helped me build foundational skills while tailoring each lesson to what I want to work on, making lessons both structured and personal.
Stephanie is incredibly generous in sharing her vast knowledge of artists and references—she always seems to have the perfect recommendation or example to illustrate a concept or inspire new directions. Her guidance has genuinely helped me grow as an artist, and I look forward to our weekly lessons.
I highly recommend Stephanie. She is a warm, insightful teacher, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work with her.As an art director, I have commissioned Stephanie's drawing and lettering work for multiple projects. She brings extensive research and professionalism to her work and I know she brings this same high level of care to her students. She is agile and intuitive, adjusting her approach based on each student's needs. Her extensive knowledge of art history and a variety of drawing techniques make her an outstanding and sought-after teacher.
Though I wasn’t a student through Superprof, I’ve had the joy of learning from Stephanie during drawing sessions woven through travels—moments shaped by the quiet discipline of Indian miniature painting that she has studied and her reverence for exquisite detail. Her guidance has refined not only my hand but my eye, revealing the subtle architecture beneath form and gesture. She teaches not through rote instruction, but through presence—inviting you into a deeper way of seeing. With her, technique becomes poetry, and tradition becomes a living conversation. If you’re seeking a teacher who opens more than just the page, who opens the world—you’ve found her.
I was a student of Stephanie's in a series of continuing education classes. I would call her style enthusiastic and supportive, meeting her students where they are and helping them grow their skills. I left feeling so inspired and encouraged to go further.
I simply cannot think of a better person to teach drawing than Stephanie. Not only does she have deep knowledge of the craft and art history, she is also a highly experienced educator. She is patient, fun-loving, and open to all types of learners and students. Drawing takes courage and Stephanie really understands how to simultaneously support and advise students toward their goals.
