About Luke
I’m a college sophomore with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students build confidence in challenging subjects. I scored a 1550 on the SAT, was named a National Merit Finalist, earned 5s on AP European History and AP English Literature, and received a 4 on AP Biology. I was also named to the President’s List during my first semester of college.
I also have a strong interest in English, humanities, and classical studies, particularly in reading, writing, and historical analysis. I enjoy helping students develop the ability to interpret texts critically, structure arguments clearly, and express ideas with precision and confidence. My experience with AP English Literature and European History has strengthened my analytical writing and close-reading skills, which I incorporate into my teaching. I aim to make literature and history feel more approachable by breaking down complex ideas into clear, understandable concepts while encouraging thoughtful discussion and deeper engagement with the material.
My approach focuses on clarity, adaptability, and understanding how each student learns best. Rather than relying on memorization alone, I help students develop problem-solving skills and strategies they can apply independently.
I’ve informally tutored and mentored younger students, including helping my siblings with academics over the years, and I enjoy making difficult material feel approachable and manageable. Whether a student is preparing for a major exam, improving classroom performance, or learning programming for the first time, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages steady progress and confidence.

My English lessons are designed to help students improve both their understanding and expression of the language in a clear, structured, and engaging way. I focus on building strong fundamentals in reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and essay writing, while also helping students develop confidence in analyzing texts and communicating their ideas effectively.
A typical lesson begins with a brief discussion of the student’s current goals or any assigned work, such as essays, reading passages, or grammar exercises. We then break down the topic step-by-step, whether that involves understanding a text, improving sentence structure, or developing a stronger argument in writing. I guide students through examples and practice exercises, encouraging them to actively apply what they learn rather than just passively receive explanations.
What sets my teaching apart is my focus on clarity and adaptability. I adjust each lesson to the student’s level and learning style, ensuring concepts are fully understood before moving forward. I emphasize practical skills that directly improve academic performance and life skills, such as structuring essays, identifying key ideas in texts, and writing with precision and clarity.
