In high school, I was the quiet theater kid type and I still carry that archetype with me. I am fairly reserved and patient with a streak of intellect, but can easily open up to others and be quite jovial in the presence of people who I can connect with. My philosophy when it comes to teaching is very simple; understanding and growth is key. I don't care for memorization, if you are equipped with the tools and the modes of understanding necessary to solve a certain set of problems, then there's no real need to memorize much of anything. Additionally, memorizing does not beget learning but is rather the antithesis of it. As for growth, it's quite simple. Grades are, to put it bluntly, a massive waste of everyone's time. If your child is performing poorly in an academic sense, and then only improve a tiny bit in the class percentage, I could not less. What's important is that they improved and understood the material better, that's all I'm after
Lesson plans are flexible based upon the individual needs of the students. I can help you through classwork you may be struggling with, teach content that is within the curriculum but not yet reached in the school year, or go extracurricular and assist in any writing projects or teach concepts beyond the scope of class.
I'm mainly looking to tutor middle school to high school age students, approximately grade 6 to 12, but if your child is younger I will not particularly mind
