About Nikita
Hi! My name is Niki, and I’m a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a BS in Biology. I’ve developed a strong appreciation for math and understand how challenging it can be without the right support. That’s why I love tutoring—helping students navigate difficult concepts and build confidence is something I find really rewarding. I also tutor for the SAT/ACT because I know how overwhelming these standardized tests can feel, and I want to help students strengthen their understanding, refine their test-taking skills, and see real score improvements. For reference, I scored a 1560 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT, and I understand what it takes to help students reach their own goals. At college, I’ve learned in a welcoming environment where questions and mistakes are part of the learning process. This approach has helped tremendously, and it’s something I bring into my tutoring. I focus on creating a comfortable space where students feel supported, allowing them to work through challenges without fear of getting things wrong. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to fit their needs, making sure they feel heard and understood. My sessions usually start with a quick check-in, followed by guided and independent practice. I’m also happy to help with homework from school and can provide additional resources for extra practice outside of our sessions. I have a couple years of tutoring experience; I have tutored through Schoolhouse, where I’ve helped over 50 students with SAT Math and English in group settings, as well as through E-Academy, an international organization where I taught English to students in India. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to explain complex ideas in a simple, approachable way. My goal as a tutor isn’t just to help students improve their scores or grades but to give them the confidence to tackle problems on their own, learn from mistakes, and develop a deeper understanding of advanced concepts.

As a tutor, I take a personalized and interactive approach to teaching English, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to the student’s learning style and goals. Whether it’s improving grammar, refining writing skills, or analyzing literature, I break down complex concepts into simple, digestible steps.
A typical lesson begins with a quick warm-up or introduction, such as a review, followed by the main lesson focused on comprehension strategies, reading, or literary analysis. Students then apply their knowledge through individual practice before engaging in discussion and feedback. Each session concludes with a summary of key takeaways.
What sets me apart is my ability to create a comfortable and engaging learning environment. As a college student, I understand the challenges students face , and how valuable it is to have a helpful teacher. Therefore, through my lessons, I aim to build confidence and creativity, helping students not only improve their English but also enjoy the learning process.
I offer lessons for elementary school, middle school, and high school students who want to strengthen their English skills, whether that's by learning vocabulary and grammar, practicing reading comprehension, or preparing for standardized tests. My goal is to make English engaging for every student I work with.
