About Ken
My name is Ken Claassen. I am 49 years old, and have been teaching college-level English courses for 18 years. I graduated from East Central University (Ada, Oklahoma, USA) with my B.A. in English in 1999, and received a Master's in Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma (Norman) in 2010. I had been pursuing my PhD in Education from OU since 2011, but had to stop in 2016 because of financial issues. As of this writing, I am anticipating starting again through the University of Central Oklahoma in 2025.

Writing is, at its core, a living art. It isn't a formula. You can't just plug the correct values into X and Y and expect to come up with a good piece of writing. Part of it does come by instinct. But I believe those instincts are inside everyone. They can be honed and sharpened to the point that each of us, by the end of this journey, will know ourselves a bit better--and be able to communicate that in a clear and captivating way to others.
And who knows? Maybe...just maybe...somewhere down on the inside of you, there is a a great writer, a great teacher, a great communicator, a great leader waiting to be released. If so, we will find him, or her, together.
My lessons are based more on each individual’s needs and the lesson plans grow and change as a result of your interaction with me—though I can say that my experience and expertise is with University-level students.

Please note: I currently only tutor online. So, the hourly rate is $25 dollars, even though the “Webcam” rate is listed as $0. I can use either Facebook Messenger or Google Meet for face-to-face lessons, whichever you prefer. I receive payments through PayPal. The “first free hour,” based on the way I teach, is more of a “get to know each other” session, where I learn about you, your needs, and how you best learn.
