About Mary Anne
I taught Physical Education for 8 years, then moved to Germany to teach and study.
Upon returning, I
I substitute taught for five years. Since my family adopted a special needs child, I went to the University of Maryland and became certified in Special Education. K-12 and adults.
I taught as a Special Education teacher with public schools for ten years and in a Juvenile Services youth facility for 5 years with a strong tutoring program. I tutored students in first, sixth and tenth grades. I
really excel at helping students achieve their grade level competencies. If possible, I like to collaborate with parents and teachers to find out areas of need and strength.

I am retired after teaching for 26 years. I get to know their current level and am constantly evaluating how they learn best. Presenting the goal for the lesson is vital for myself and my student. I demonstrate, explain, have students get involved, ask questions, estimate, all the while aiming at the goal. I build on what they have grasped in a variety of ways. I am creative and like to change activities when I feel it is time. I have a good sense of humor, keeping things fun and the students learning.
