About Nelson
I am a competitive chess player from Kuching, Sarawak, with a strong competitive background at both state and national levels. I have achieved multiple MSS Sarawak championship titles in the Under 12, Under 15, and Under 18 categories, and I have consistently placed in the Top 10 at MSS Malaysia championships (2007, 2009, 2011). I have also represented Sarawak as a state player and won several Sarawak Open tournaments.
Beyond competing, I am passionate about sharing my chess knowledge through coaching. I offer lessons for players of all levels, focusing on strong fundamentals, calculation skills, and practical game understanding. My training includes structured practice, tactical training, and detailed game analysis to help students improve step by step.
I also place strong emphasis on tournament preparation, including time management, opening preparation, endgame technique, and psychological readiness under pressure. In addition, I provide practical tips and training methods to help students build consistent study habits and improve their performance in real competitions.
