As an engineer I do not only memorize notes to pass exams but I can dissect problems and gain deeper understanding and logical wiring of the tackled topics and problems. If you only wish to pass your test that's fine but what about rewiring your mind, learning to tackle any topic without fear knowing you can divide and conquer it and gain the real hard-earned logic of it
