About Jason
I’m Jason Cheng, a Ph.D. in Computer Science with over 15 years of international experience as an educator, researcher, and mentor. I’ve worked with students from all over the world—from high schoolers preparing for AP Computer Science exams to university students writing research proposals, to adult learners pivoting into tech. I was part of the Zoom development team, contributing to real-time collaboration tools, and my academic research focuses on artificial intelligence, educational technology, and intelligent systems. I bring both deep theoretical understanding and hands-on industry experience into every lesson I teach. My approach is clear, structured, and responsive. My lessons are tailored for students who want clarity, structure, and long-term skill development—not just short-term cramming. Whether you're a high school student aiming for a 5 on the AP Computer Science A or Principles exam, a university student working on a research project, or an adult learner starting Python from scratch, I build each lesson around your goals and pace.
What to Expect
For AP Computer Science A: Exam-focused sessions with structured walkthroughs of FRQs, algorithm drills, and Java problem sets. I teach not only syntax but how to think like a programmer.
For AP Computer Science Principles (CSP): I help students build conceptual understanding of computing systems, algorithms, the internet, and data. Lessons include practice with performance tasks and mock exam components, as well as creative projects using block-based or text-based languages.
For Python: We start from logic and flow, move into syntax and libraries, and end in mini-projects based on your interests—such as AI, games, or data analysis.
For academic writing: I guide students in science and tech majors to build strong, structured essays, SOPs, research reports, and presentations. I help bilingual students navigate English academic norms without losing their voice.
For IELTS writing: I focus on coherence, structure, and lexical range, especially for students with a technical or STEM background.
