About Parker
If there was one message I'd like to convey to students, it's that I understand the struggles. I was in a students' position not too long ago where I felt as if I couldn't understand anything that was being taught to me. I thought there was no point in learning this stuff, and that I just wasn't mean to understand it. I was fortunate enough to experience teachers and professors who changed my way of thinking by showing me why I'm learning those concepts and how they might be useful in my life. I'm very thankful for that, and while I don't have much formal tutoring experience, I'd love to be able to inspire that same optimism and eagerness to learn in others!

My approach as a tutor would be to guide students who may otherwise struggle with certain subjects in such a way that helps them really understand what they're learning and why they're learning it; a big learning curve for me growing up was not knowing why I was being taught certain things until a few excellent teachers of mine taught me the historical context of the topics as well as how they apply to the "real world". I've found this to be an extremely helpful method of teaching and have had a dramatic increase in my educational performance since then, and I'd love to be able to offer that kind of benefit to anyone and everyone.
I'm not picky about the level of education to help with; I know "mathematics" is such a vague term when talking about difficult, but I'm comfortable assisting anyone with elementary math to high school Precalculus. I'm also happy to try and help incoming and current college freshmen who may need assistance with college level algebra or basic Calculus!
My lesson plans are intended to be flexible; I want what's best for the students, so I want to ensure they're comfortable asking me about any concept or topic they're having trouble with and I'll go ahead and center the session(s) around that until they're confident that they understand the material. I'll also take a little bit of time going over the more "basic" information that the student will need to know in order to approach the problem, as well as providing some sort of insight as to why they're learning the concept in the first place, as I believe knowing the context and application of a concept is very helpful.
