Concert violinist with 20 years of playing experience and an Associate's degree in performing arts. I am new to teaching, but eager to share my knowledge!

About Samantha
I started playing violin when I was six years old. In elementary school, I sang in the chorus and played in the school orchestra. I did the same in middle and high school, in addition to summer orchestras and workshops. In high school, I was the concert mistress of the orchestra and played a key role in coaching the other students. By my senior year, I had realized I wanted to major in music in college. I auditioned on violin and voice and started taking music courses, playing in the university orchestra, and singing in the concert choir. Outside of school, I played second violin in the city's symphony orchestra. I also played in the pit orchestra for two operas our school was presenting. I enjoyed playing in a group very much, but unfortunately had to stop going to school early due to medical reasons. Now, I would love to slowly bring myself back to where I was, being immersed in music all the time. That is why I have decided to start teaching lessons. I would love to share what I have learned with people who are just as passionate about music as me.

As someone who had a hard time understanding traditional teaching methods in school, I aim to take a slightly different approach when it comes to music. Reading music is similar to learning a new language. The ideal way to get information to stick is to build upon core concepts. I believe the people who will benefit from my lessons are beginner and intermediate students who truly have a passion to learn something new.
